With over three decades in residential construction, John Capestany has built his career — and his reputation — on craftsmanship, integrity, and a deep respect for the homes and people of the Pacific Northwest.
John’s story in construction began in the late 1980s, when he joined a foundation crew working for some of the region’s most respected builders, including Burnstead, Buchan, and Chaffey. Watching skilled framers craft custom homes left a lasting impression on him. Before finishing high school, he was already on a framing crew, spending his summers learning the trade and paying his way through college. The experience instilled in him not only a love of building but also a commitment to quality that would shape his entire career.
After earning his degree from Western Washington University, John continued framing full-time before deciding to carve his own path. In 2004, he founded what would become First Choice Home Exteriors, transitioning from new construction into the residential remodeling field. His goal was simple but ambitious — to raise the bar for exterior renovations and deliver work that blended technical excellence with long-term value.

Over the years, John has seen nearly every side of the industry — from high-end custom builds to the pitfalls of rushed or subpar construction. That experience has driven his passion for doing things the right way the first time. His team focuses on precision, durability, and problem-solving, helping homeowners address everything from rot repair and siding restoration to full-scale exterior transformations.
Rooted in the community where he grew up, John takes pride in serving the same neighborhoods that shaped his life. His approach to business reflects his values: honesty, clear communication, and respect for every client’s investment. He believes a successful project is one that not only looks beautiful but also performs flawlessly for decades to come.
When he’s not managing projects, John spends his time with his family — often at the barn with his daughter and her horse, or tackling his own home improvements and landscaping projects. His mornings start early with walks alongside his German Shepherd, taking in the quiet beauty of the Northwest that continues to inspire his work.
For John, every project is personal. He believes that a well-built home tells a story of care, pride, and craftsmanship — and his mission is to make sure every client’s story begins with a solid, lasting foundation.
